Summer Placements - what we look for

At Brodies we pride ourselves on being able to provide the best service to our clients, which ensures that they keep coming back.

Excellent client awareness, drive and enthusiasm are all key skills that are required for our summer placement programme. We expect you to get really involved in the work during the six week placement so that you get a good feel for Brodies and a commercial law firm.

You will be in your third year of the LLB or above or, will be undertaking the first year of the accelerated LLB. This is your chance to experience a summer placement which could result in a possible traineeship for 2011.

It is not only your university grades that we take into consideration. We look at whether you have had any work experience, been part of a team or club at university, experienced other cultures or been involved in voluntary work. All of these factors make you a more rounded individual and you can gain the opportunity to display some of those skills during your summer placement with us.

Brodies top hints and tips!

Preparation is always key to how you perform at an assessment so give yourself some time to look at the Brodies website, familiarise yourself with our business and even read about our lawyers.

Think about what questions you may be asked at the interview and what examples you can use to demonstrate your various skills.

For presentations and written exercises be clear and concise. It is always good to have a structure so that your presentation takes a natural flow. Always think about who your audience might be and most importantly, read the brief and answer it!
